Cockatoo Island
Kimberley Technology Solutions (KTS) is a privately owned Western Australian company focused on developing a multi-user supply and support base on Cockatoo Island, which is located off the WA coast near Derby in the Buccaneer Archipelago.
Summary
Foundation users of the supply base are expected to come from the oil and gas, marine, and aviation sectors. Once established, opportunities exist for collaboration with renewable energy proponents, using the base as a secure location for clean energy pilot projects and trials.
Most local, State, and Federal government approvals have been obtained for the project. Environmental Approvals are expected to be approved in Q3 2022.
The development of the Cockatoo Island multi-user supply and support base will help to generate significant economic, employment, and community benefits and opportunities for the people and businesses of the Kimberley.
KTS is seeking to partner with industry, governments at all levels, tertiary education, local businesses, and Traditional Owners to maximise the potential of Cockatoo Island’s strategic location to provide opportunities for long-term, sustainable business opportunities.
The development will create opportunities to export, train, increase local economic activity and drive employment in Northwest Australia.
