New Logistics Hub
The KTS development was inspired by the North Sea or Norwegian cluster model, where multiple specialist logistics centres are combined to create a seamless service offering to industries.
The Broome and Derby Ports and Logistics facilities will combine with Cockatoo Island in a North Western Australian Logistics cluster.
This concept has already proven to be successful in Europe and in particular in Norway.
Cockatoo Island is the closest geographic location where infrastructure is able to be developed to support the Browse Basin (Prelude, Ichthys and Browse projects), and further afield, the Bonaparte, Outer Canning and Dorado basins.
Importantly the facility can also be a staging area for pre deployment into field and retrieval. The location provides a sheltered, deep-water port able to accommodate the largest vessels and components associated with construction field development and operations.
The facilities proposed have been designed on a staged development to accommodate present and future demand.
